Video acceleration on QCS6490

As of Linux 6.18 the VPU driver is Qualcomm Venus.

What works with chromium / firefox / mpv:
:white_check_mark: H264
:white_check_mark: H265
:white_check_mark: VP9 (bug has been fixed upstream and downstream patch is available in Armbian)

The good thing is there is a patch series already for QCS6490 support in the modern Qualcomm Iris driver: Making sure you're not a bot!

Will update this thread when I have tested that.

Follow up regarding VP9: Making sure you're not a bot!

Is it just me, that also thinks that “video acceleration” includes the encoder?
This is currently not working (in Gstreamer) for h264 and h265, tested with T6 image.

Could you try T7 image with the latest firmware? Note that you may have to set Hypervisor Settings -> Hypervisor Override to Enabled in UEFI BIOS.

The T7 image is Gnome. Will there be a KDE version? Gnome is a Gno Gno for me.

First time seeing that radxa went for gnome.. when all radxaOS runs on kde …

I installed a fresh build of RadxaOS R1, and when I launch Chromium, I see that hardware decoding is not active. Is there a way to fix this?
