Using maskrom on CM5-IO?

Hi, I am trying to backup the original image on CM5-IO eMMC using rkdeveloptool, but I fail to switch CM5-IO to the maskrom mode.

I followed instructions in Maskrom not working, what am I doing wrong? , but it does not seem to work for CM5-IO board (worked for CM3-IO though).

I use this sequence:

  • press the maskrom btn on CM5
  • hook 12V power supply
  • hook USB-C
  • release the maskrom btn
and CM5 starts booting the image on eMMC

I tried just plugging USB-C, without the 12V PSU, but the board did not seem to be powered at all.

I use USB-A - USB-C cable which works OK - upon booting CM5 the USB network gadget gets recognized.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Pavel.

@ken can you give any advice ?

Next to the DC power supply there is a pin that can enter maskrom mode, you can short it to enter maskrom mode.

Hi Ken, thanks a lot. Looking at CM5 and CM5-IO schematics, the push button on CM5 and the pinheader on IO board are in parallel

Please what is the correct sequence for power jack, maskrom btn/pinheader, and USB-C connector?

Thanks a lot!

Pavel.

May I ask what version of cm5 you have? The buttons and pins are in the same connector.
The sequence is generally hold or short maskrom, connect usb-c, and power up last.
