Update Rock5B Debian to kernel 5.x series >= 5.15?

Hi all,

On the Rock 5B with Debian, I want a 5.x series kernel that is at least version 5.15.

Can you help me understand, is it available, and if so how do I install it?

And, on the same topic, I realize the Radxa documentatoin has outdated Debian image download link. https://docs.radxa.com/en/rock5/rock5b/download links to an image with kernel 5.10, that is to the “B39” image https://github.com/radxa-build/rock-5b/releases/download/b39/rock-5b_debian_bullseye_kde_b39.img.xz . But, https://github.com/radxa-build/rock-5b/releases/ shows that this link is from 4 Sep 2023.

Meanwhile the most recently published is from 8 Aug 2024: https://github.com/radxa-build/rock-5b/releases/download/rsdk-b5/rock-5b_bookworm_kde_b5.output.img.xz . I’ll figure out which kernel this latest image has, and revert.

@RadxaYuntian In https://github.com/radxa-build/rock-5b/releases/ , the file naming changed after 4 Sep 2023. On 4 Sep 2023 and before, the image names were “.img.xz”. And there were more options like XCFE etc.:

Afterwards instead the filename changed to “.output.img.xz”.

Also there are now other extra files “.rootfs.tar.xz”, “.seed.tar.gz”, “.manifest”, “.build-image” and “.config.yaml”. And there is only a KDE distribution available for download. What happened? What happened?

Rockchip skipped any version after 5.10 and jumped straight to 6.1.

b39 was labeled as kernel 5.10 and it is indeed the last release with that kernel.

We switched (yet again) to a different system builder. Newer releases are built by rsdk.
