Rock 5C audio broken in desktop and server versions

Have tried both the desktop and server options provided by Radxa as well as the T3 release candidate. All have the same issue - no audio out of the aux jack, just static. When I try to test the audio in the desktop versions, it reports “Error playing test sound. No Such Driver”. I have tried 2 different speakers just to make sure that it wasn’t the speaker or cable that was the issue.

I decompiled the rk3588s-rock-5c.dtb file to compare it to the changes made at arm64: dts: rock 5c: modify es8316 clk per this forum link: CM5 and Rock 5C Headphone jack no audio via ES8316 and it looks like the change was pushed into the Desktop image. I tried the T3 release candidate just to be sure but the behavior is the same. I did not see anything in the rsetup Hardware or Overlays section that would indicate I had to enable anything.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? If audio is working for you, what OS type and version are you using?

I got the aux jack to start working on the desktop version by installing libcanberra-pulse. Found an article on Joshua Riek’s github site about a sound issue Rock 5: No sound in v1.21 #291 that suggested installing it. I did and the sound output now works.
