With the rock 5b it comes with debian installed, correct? If I want to install ubuntu I would then use etcher to write it to a SSD to be used with the rock 5b. Is it necessary to use a version specifically for the rock 5b or can a generic version of ubuntu 20.04 be used (desktop)?
