Rock 5B+: Has Anyone Fully Unlocked Its Potential?

Hello,
Is anyone on this forum able to confirm if they have fully utilized the Rock 5B+ and with which distribution?
All our tests conducted on the Radxa Debian and Android 12 distributions available on this site have so far resulted in only partial functionality.
Key features to be tested:
• Decoding of two 4K 60fps video streams
• Encoding of a 4K 60fps video stream
• Using VLC and Chromium while leveraging the hardware acceleration of the Rockchip 3588
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Yep. Joshua. He did his ubuntu images sharp. Others followed even armbian and kwankius arch linux.
Until collabora releases its mainline edition… u cant expect more performance than that.

Thanks DarkevilPT, can you give me a reliable link to the latest stable version of Joshua.
Thanks for your feedback

Thanks, DarkevillPT!

Finally, a Linux distribution that works without too much tinkering.

I see a lot of potential in the Rock 5B+, but my initial tests were frustrating. Joschua’s distribution is reassuring—it’s great to have a more polished option.

We’re still running tests, but so far, things look promising.

I’ll also check out Collabora’s distribution: Collabora Debian Image Recipes, as well as the Android TV build: Android12-rkr14-SPI_NVME-20240705-update.zip .

It’s a shame that Radxa isn’t putting more effort into updating their official images.
