Radxa Zero don't boot after update

Hello all,

I installed the official Ubuntu Focal image from https://wiki.radxa.com/Zero/downloads to EMMC, it was booting fine but stopped working after apt-get update && apt-get upgrade (just gives a black screen without any messages).
Is it a known issue and if so is there a workaround/solution for that?

Probably you mean unofficial Armbian Focal marked as “Ubuntu Focal”?

https://dl.radxa.com/zero/images/armbian/Armbian_21.08.0-trunk_Radxa-zero_focal_current_5.10.58_xfce_desktop.img.xz

tl;dr; Official Armbian builds comes from here and builds are digitally signed. Unofficial Armbian builds are ofc not supported by Armbian so its down to Radxa to fix the problems.

Workaround - search this forum. Solution - official Armbian support.

Also got this problem. The only solution I have is to be careful about upgrading the installed packages.

Hi,

I found these 2 package are the cause.
Workaround is not to update these two packages.

linux-dtb-current-meson64/focal 21.08.1 arm64 [upgradable from: 21.08.0-trunk]
linux-image-current-meson64/focal 21.08.1 arm64 [upgradable from: 21.08.0-trunk]

Thanks, hishi.
I could upgrade the Armbian focal once the upgrade caused critical error during boot process.

Today, I read the thread “[Radxa zero model RAM 512M not boot](http://Radxa zero model RAM 512M not boot)” .

After upgrade, I followed Jack’s comment --" download and copy the fix boot.cmd and boot.scr to /boot and reboot for the new kernel.

Kernel 5.10.69-1-amlogic could boot.
I hope this process will be added to “Install Wiki”.
