Quad SATA HAT not initializing before OMV tries to mount drives

I’m using the Quad SATA HAT with a raspberry pi 4b, four SSD’s and OpenMediaVault.
I then mount the SSD’s with OMV and also use unionfs to create just one volume.
Everything works fine until I power off.
After power on it seems that the raspberry pi tries to mount the SSD’s before the Quad SATA HAT is initialized.
I say that because no blue lights, no fan spin and also no lcd and it enters in an emergency mode after trying to mount (I think) the SSD’s.

So, anyone as experienced something similar?
Is there a way to mount the SSD’s after the HAT is initialized?
Or is something I’m missing?

thanks.

Ok, i think I find out where the problem was.
After adding nofail to the fuse.mergerfs line in the /etc/fstab file it started to work.
If I remove the nofail the problem comes back.

But it does not mount the volume because it not recognizes nofail

After reading a bunch of things, forums, user guides, found that this is the best solution

I’m not familiar with your use case but most of the timing dependent issues need messing with the systemd dependencies to make sure that some event occurs before the mount is attempted.

You can take a look at my post here to see how to configure systemd dependencies.

The problem was that fstab was trying to mount the USB drives before they were available.
Because the USB drives weren’t mounted, when fstab tried to mount the unionfs drive the system entered a state of emergency.

My solution was to avoid fstab to mount the drives at boot.
So, I added noauto to the /etc/fstab mount options and also to the /etc/openmediavault/config.xml just in case. This way I can still manually mount by clicking the mount button in OMV > File Systems if needed.
Finally I added all the mount commands to /etc/rc.local.

@setq Is there finally a fix (mount script) for changing the boot order, so that quad sata hat service is initializing BEFORE OMV tries to mount drives? Otherwise rebooting the device without unplugging the power plug is just not possible which is quite annoying. (Installed Nextcloudpi first, than quad sata hat, than OMV which is on port 8080 now, created raid5 with mdadm using this command: sudo mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=4 /dev/sda /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd)

This is my dsmeg:
