I am using a Raspberry Pi 5B 8GB and a Radxa Penta SATA Hat with 4 SSDs. The power is supplied from an ATX power supply through a Molex connector to the Penta SATA Hat. The software is OpenMediaVault, and the SSDs are in a RAID-Z1 pool.
The issue is that the Penta Hat randomly shuts down, about once a month. The Raspberry Pi and the operating system continue to run, but the disk system disconnects, and only powercycling Penta Hat helps, so the problem is likely not with the software. Could you advise on what to do and which logs to provide? I bought the Penta Hat no more than six months ago from arace.tech. Is there a possibility of claiming a warranty?
Penta Sata Hat randomly disconnects
Can You please post photo of Your setup? Are You using four same drives?
any pi5 undervoltage warnings?
when it disconnects - are there any traces in dmesg?
hi @dominik, i will update my post with photos and dmesg traces, later, when issue occurs again. I dont know when it will happen next time, or how to manually reproduce it. As per undervoltage warnings, i dont see any of those in dmesg. I use almost the same drives, those are samsung evo 870 ssd
s, three of them are 2tb, and one is 4tb. I don`t think that might be an issue. As I had same setup before i moved to the RPI5+ Penta SATA Hat.
dmesg is good place to start such debugging.
I asked about about power because this may one of reasons.
