Penta hat top board temperature indication

Hi,

Quick question, I have my Penta hat running in combination with a Raspberry Pi 5 and the latest version (v1.2) of the top board and every thing seems to be running smoothly.

Now the top board fan seems to properly trottle base don the temperatures in the config file

The only part I am not entirely clear on is:

Is the temperature displayed that of the “Raspberry Pi 5” or is it the temperature of the “SATA controller”.

I am hoping it is the temperature of the SATA controller (as the Pi 5 already has its own fan but from the documentation it is not exactly clear.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Regards
Remi

I’m just experimenting with it and it seemed like it is a CPU temp. Seemed as corelation isnt causality, I’m using past tense as I am experiencing weird fan ramping up for no apparent reason. So my experiment is playing with the top board config file and CPU temp readings, at the beginning the fan responded as expected. The build was vertically standing on the SBC, CPU and Disks temps below lv 0 stopped the fan. Today I placed the NAS horizontally so I can see the OLED and the Fan doesn’t stop anymore, randomly ramps up for no apparent reason. Disk temps are still below 30C, CPU temp is 44C. I’ve updated the Radxa config file so lv0 starts at 45C. So expected behavior is that at this moment the fan should be off. yet, it is not stopping and its ramping up despite all temps seems stable.
