I can’t enable Bluetooth (A8) with R120 like before.

Isnt it already enabled by default? Also… report that on their github.

Try with
blacklist btintel
uncomment.

already tried to uncomment blacklist btintel. Still greyed out.

Im using the ax210 which is supported… its cheap on aliexpress you could try it. But yeah its up to fyde now to list more drivers.

Someone just did that and worked fine for him on the fyde discord.
If you have wifi but just not bt uncomment that line on blackconf on crosh should fix.

tried some scenarios:
when I delete the blacklist.conf wich doesn’t exists by default, I can enable bluetooth but no device was found… with all entries uncommend, bluetooth is greyed out.

I have no clue why that is. I cant test it at the moment. But I had the A8 and on the previous version the 114 it was working fine. You could try it there to sure.
I would even say to try another image to check if it isnt any antenna issue. But I guess thsts not the case unless fyde forgot the a8 driver… idk.

Kudos to Explaining Computers for Making Brilliant reviews and for having the time to make this clean one for the FydeOS for Radxa N100!

I have the same trouble with sleep mode in both Fyde and OpenFyde OSes. If I let it sleep, I cannot wake it up then as the keyboard and mouse seems to be disconnected. I use wireless keyboard & mouse, re-plugging the wireless USB adapter doesn’t help.

In fact I would like to use the “Turn off display” mode instead of the “Sleep” one. But if I set the “Turn off display” mode it never happens, the display is on all the time.

Is there already any solution to this? To be honest, this one is the major reason keeping me out of using these ChromeOS based systems.:frowning:

Better report that to someone at fyde maybe on their forums.

openFyde v19 released for Rock 5B

FydeOS v19 OrangePi 5 Image running on Radxa CM5 works via MicroSD only.

Anyone have FydeOS running from the NVMe. Maybe I have the wrong SPI boot on mine. I simply downloaded the newest SPI boot loader from Raxda. I cannot get it to work and I am stuck with MicroSD only. Funny thing is I get the same issue with Raspberry Pi 5 NVMe as the rock5b. No boot.

Hi, i tried to flash OpenFydeOS like you said, but it is not booting. i used RPI imager while Balena Etcher fails to see the image file…
Is there any way like flashing this image using rkdevtool in Maskrom mode or something ???
for your valuable input i will be very greatful. Thanks.

There is. Extract the image using winrar (not windows extracting option) then place your device into maskrom using rkdevtools set bin and img file and flash it. The emmc should work.
The microsd should also work unless that microsd isnt legit. I only trust those amazons sandisks where seller IS amazon everything else is a scam ebay aliexpress etc.

Either way. Assuming u got a proper microsd card. Remind me of your setup?
Rock 5B on emmc or nvme? For that to work I think you have to either flash the nvme with rpi imager from an enclosure thingy then booting fydeos from it will let u install it on the nvme if not then use try then check if the storage is the nvme.

Theres also the spi loader file u gotta use to set storage priorities for that u gotta check radxa wiki to see what file to flash on rkdevtools.
Microsd should always work unless that card is shite…

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply. Before i jump into this, i want to ask is this Fyde OS better than the Android 12 version what is available on Github ? how is the performance of Android Apps in Fyde OS compared to Android 12 Environment ?
I saw in Fyde O latest release that Android Subsystem is undergoing major changes and currently disabled. Does it mean i cant install Android Apps on Fyde OS now ??? all i am interested is to run 2-3 Android Apps on M2 NVME SSD and get a better Picture Quality on my OLED TV. I am using NVME SSD on Rock 5b+.

I will wait for your reply. Thanks

FydeOS will always be better than openFyde as it is more complete and made to be stable.

openFyde is that beta testing version that tries to go further on the android version and can be more unstable.

Well… at least this is in theory… in reality on the previous version I had found openfyde better as the penguin terminal wasnt so ‘kernel locked’ comparatively to fydeos one.

Now idk nothing about fydeos plans. Initially they had a skilled guy making openfyde images like pancakes and since he left… the openfyde project has kinda slow down and… them releasing openfyde images without android support… its just ballicks to me…
I havent tested if .apk instalations work as I havent used openfyde atm.

So in short use fydeos. Now regards to Android itself… well. Android imo its where FydeOS needed an big improvement. But its not their fault… Google doesnt share their android sub system into chromiumOS which is what fydeos is. Its a customized port of chromiumOS with their own anbox / android subsystem that they try to compile to share with the world for more devices.

So in short android 9 was is the most stable one. They moved to android 11 I think or 12 but it still happens that some apps close themselves randomly or lag if more are open.
Its more like a 1 at a time thing than all u can use and abuse kind of experience.

What U should do is try and error and a lot of try and error with this system.

Regards to running fydeos from your nvme its a bit tricky u can flash it directly using rpi imager via an enclosure box as I said. But u also need to flash the micro sd to boot from it and then direct the installation to the nvme… (sounds wrong but try). I remember using fydeos from the nvme it works but installing it there from the microsd it might not show u the nvme storage u kinda have to try n error. Its another wee shit that fydeos never fixes for good.

Well not everything is negative. Fydeos is very cool and the fact we can use it on our boards makes the experience even better.
In my experience for someone who is starting at linux and wants a more safe environment with a lot of features to learn and try fydeos is great. The terminal mistakes will never break your system and u can always reinstall it.
Then u can even transform it into other linux versions and try other stuff that are not in debian you can somehow to some extent learn stuff.

But gentoo aka crosh terminal is another story… its more complex and more limited and yet u can ‘hack’ it using Chromebrew but theres not many apps or things U can do with it… as they need to be written for it and its a low end community very little people around it to grow interesting.

You can have steam, cloud gaming on browsers geforce now, boosteroid, etc… Some android apps Diablo Immortal for my bad luck crashes… but its a blizzard thing I dont think they want it to run on chromebooks… but im sure u can genshin impact its just a massive big game to install you know… patience…

Not long ago google stated they (right after they fired a bunch of people from the chromeOS department) that they were gonna use android kernel in chromeOS then what they did was… they ported terminal (the penguin) from chromeOS to android where pixel phones from the 7th on beta can install termina and run linux apps and even a desktop environment from your phone.

I think their focus will be at some point to provide ChromeOS on the phones as samsung provided dex but… everything points out that / that wont be the direct case as its just a terminal… and the question of what about hardware and gpu acceleration will work on more than just their tensor chip still remains and nothing confirms if it will be out for more phones when android 16 gets oficial. (most likely will just for the next pixel phone).

Why this matters? Well it does cause AndroidOS if anything it runs on vulkan and hardware aceleration is never an issue for android regarding stuff so… yay for android kernel on chromeOS but terminal on android is yet something they are giving steroids about.

And in all that world of unicorns and rainbows… google focus is never other than phones because its whats making them money… as u know chromeOs is still only for licensed shit-tops… (laptops). Thats where fydeOS shines… struggles and gets it right. So fingers crossed for more news to come. At the moment fydeos invested on a Fydetab Duo with rk3588 they partned with BredOs for a while got some better linux support and they are comitted to improve their laptop trickerys.

But… I personally have been lazy Im not even using my devices lately everynow and then I need fydeos but they or geforce now / made it incompatible to run it from their browser and so having to install an vm alternative browser caps performance… and that has been letting me down like f.! So… been using Arch Linux working with @kwankiu who was super hyped long side with Joshua and Boogie leant a few more things about it… the device and software is sharp however joshua gave up and rockchip betrayed us… so it all feels like we are in a limbo… My hope is that… collabora or armbian fixes all these issues or the next mainline kernel does and we get a more stable linux back coding for the current implementations.

Anyway… Give it a try.
