Armbian images are now available for Rock 5b!
The 3d-acc cant be implemented directly in your jammy gnome image?
Is there any release notes to understand what have been improved in e.g. Feb 27 version compared to previous one?
Someone who have successfully luks encryption on Rock Pi 5 Armbian? Because iâm stuck
@booglepop. Woke? Lol! Woke is a nonsensical word that my parents never let me or my siblings utter while growing up. Woke meant being aware of something to foundational black Americans. Over the last several years woke got usurped, hijacked, misappropriated and changed from what us FBAâs meant while using word. The âdominantâ society now uses the word woke to mean feminism lgbt etc. itâs so funny how now that same society wants to ban word and idiot members of that demographic use that anti woke narrative to target anything concerning black folk. Lol! Everything or anything cannot be usurped. Itâs called chickens coming home to roost or hoisted on your own petard. Lmao
Ok, but lets talk about rock5 from now on.
reporting in, the new 6.2 edge kernel theyâre running seems to require a uboot update as well
and the pre-build image they provide in the rolling updates possibly hasnât switched to it ? So it wonât boot with it
but downloading the legacy image and then using apt install to upgrade works
apt update
apt install linux-u-boot-rock-5b-edge linux-headers-edge-rockchip-rk3588 linux-dtb-edge-rockchip-rk3588 linux-image-edge-rockchip-rk3588
if youâre using an older image the boot partition might not be big enough so you might have to delete some stuff out of /boot
EDIT: Ok I guess itâs unusable since thereâs no USB or ethernet support.
@boogiepop. Letâs. The fabulous looking Rock5b is why Iâm here after all. Being the man I am , raised by the astute successful capable parents that I was raised by , when I notice incorrect or nonsensical narratives that are daily used to target members of my demographic then yeah Iâm gonna weigh in. I guarantee no one wants to talk to me about real American history because Iâm well versed. Good day
This space is supposed to be about Armbian images available for the Rock5b or general discussions concerning software(or lack there of) for the Radxa Rock5b. Some folks on here want to dog whistle or signal idiots using nonsensical terms or narratives and when properly and promptly addressed for their attempted chicanery they retreat and raise the white flag of defeat and or surrender lol! Listen, (or read) donât use terms or talking points that you canât describe defend or stand behind or beside when you are confronted. We can talk only about the Rock5b all day because Iâm interested. The instant a bubblehead on here writes something idiotic concerning my demographic- Iâm coming so be ready
Me doth think thou protesteth too much; meaning, youâre not in your rational mind but your emotional mind, and therefore pretending to be a crusader and arbiter of truth, which canât actually happen when one is being led by their emotional upsets. The most you can be capable of in such a state is sophistry, which is emotion masquerading as reason, also known in psychology as emotionally motivated reasoning. When one is arguing from a space of emotionally motivated reasoning, the rewards/punishments center of the brain is active, and the center of the mind responsible for reason lies dormant.
Anyway, I love my Rock 5B as a test server, and look forward to when the Linux kernel goes mainstream for the RK3588, and panfrost drivers mature, so I can use it as a travel device. Iâll definitely use Armbian, which is the theme of this thread, as their images seem to have the best functionality.
Hi all! Have upgraded the board firmware today (with armbian-config) and got many errors in dmesg and a bit longer boot:
[ 182.935790] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10833 [ 182.936248] bpfilter: read fail 0 [ 183.058346] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10835 [ 183.058919] bpfilter: read fail 0 [ 183.154122] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10840 [ 183.154495] bpfilter: read fail 0 [ 183.274132] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10842 [ 183.274523] bpfilter: read fail 0 [ 183.390512] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10845 [ 183.390909] bpfilter: read fail 0 [ 183.487534] bpfilter: Loaded bpfilter_umh pid 10847 [ 183.487928] bpfilter: read fail 0
How to solve this?
Clearly he cant help himself. I got to listen to it for a while too.
Made an attempt with 23.5 Jammy Gnome today.
Installed incl jianfeng panfork/multimedia and kodi as instructed on the Armbian dl page.
It is working slow/not snappy and 3d acceleration clearly does not work.
I must change to wayland for it to work?
Why so many login options? 2x âGNOMEâ,1x GNOME on wayland and 1x GNOME on xorg.
When I chose Gnome on wayland screen goes all black and I guess it has something to do with it changing to an unsupported resolution for my monitor.
Thanks.
- could you update the info that PD is broken only for Rock 5B?
- what is the eMMC bug situation on Armbian for Rock 5A now? Could you put it in the FAQ?
- could you update the info that PD is broken only for Rock 5B?
So they fixed it in the A? That is nice of them. ( yes that was sarcasm . they really dropped the ball on this )
things are looking pretty good with mainline kernel now
I basically merged collaboraâs rk3588-test branch with mainline (6.5-rc1)
this works but for some reason usb3 wasnât hooked up in the rock5b dts, so I just copied exactly what they did to get the usb3 working for u-boot. dfi/cpufreq also wasnât working but it was easy to fix up by merging in the dfi branch and adding the tsadc node and mem-supply lines to the &cpus
With Armbian itâs good to make room with the boot partition as the default size is too small to hold even one extra kernel image. I just used gparted to move the root partition back and increase the boot partition size.
I have 3 5Bs running 23.8.1 Stable. Under armbian-config -> System -> Other I am unable to swap the kernel on all 3 boards. If you select Other it will retrieve 255 files, then show
If you hit space bar to acknowledge and enter to move forward, it will just return you to the previous System menu. Previously on older versions of armbian this worked fine, notably 23.5.1. Is this commonplace or do I have an issue?I would like to note, one board started at 23.5.1 and was upgraded, the other two were fresh 23.8.1 installs that all show this behavior.
which builds have PD working? itâs my first run with this board need something that can install through ssh
