Zero 3W: Stuck in Maskrom state after flashing eMMC

Hi,

I’ve been using the RKDevTool v2.96 to flash the eMMC on my Radxa Zero 3W. I’m using the loader named “rk356x_spl_loader_ddr1056_v1.10.111.bin” (link shared by someone on Youtube).

If I flash the image for Android Tablet (found here: https://github.com/radxa/manifests/releases/tag/radxa-zero3-we-android11-rkr12-20240111) then it boots just fine from the eMMC, first the Rockchip-logo from the boot image I guess and then it loads Android. But that’s not what I want.

But when I flash any other OS, from the official B6 to Armbians versions, it flashes successfully according to RKDevTool v2.96, but the Zero 3W is stuck in Maskrom mode.

If I reflash the Android image it boots just fine again.

Any way to get passed that?

Regards / Spike

An update on my issue.

It seems the bootloader I used (rk356x_spl_loader_ddr1056_v1.10.111.bin) was not really good for my OS-images.

However I solved it in the end by booting Armbian on an SD-card and then using:

“sudo armbian-config”

From in there, under System, I could install/update the bootloader for SD/eMMC and then transport the SD-card OS to the eMMC. Now it boot from eMMC perfectly.
