Wiping emmc doesn't - Windows

Just got my RZ v1.51 yesterday and started messing around with it. here’s what I have done so far

  1. I got the lsusb drivers to install on windows, and got the RZ to start as USB boot mode
  2. successfully ran the USB Boot Helper in maskrom mode.
  3. Ran the radxa-zero-erase-emmc.bin file and the rz-udisk-loader.bin file to get the RZ to be recognized as a USB drive
  4. Flashed dietpi to the emmc
  5. Booted with no sdcard
  6. Got Nothing.
  7. Figured maybe the flash was bad, so repeated step (3).
  8. Here’s where things are weird, the emmc did not get wiped, when the RZ came back up as a USB drive, all the dietpi files were still there.

Is that normal? Any advice on how to actually clear the emmc?

After loading radxa-zero-erase-emmc.bin you do not need to load rz-udisk-loader.bin. radxa-zero-erase-emmc.bin will expose eMMC as a USB storage device by itself. It will take a while before the eMMC is wiped and recognized by the host computer, so if you interrupt that process and load rz-udisk-loader.bin, you will not erase your eMMC.

If you still have issues please send the serial log.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it again and gave it 4 hours for a 8GB emmc, and it still hasn’t re-connected as a USB storage device. How long does it take?

Well 10 seconds maximum… We were actually just wiping the partition table from eMMC so it was very quick. At this point I need the serial log before I can tell what was wrong and it is likely to be a hardware issue.
