Windows on Radxa Dragon Q6A

I’m using a plastic/acrylic case for a pi 5 (with a single large hole for the 2 video outs) with one of the panels flipped and a hole drilled for audio out- the pi 2bs have the same layout but its hard to find cases for those . Apparently cases for a rock 5c would work as well tho. (I feel like this could be a thread on its own?)

I bought a ADATA XPG GAMMIX S55, 512GB, PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 2230 and installed it on the q6a. Windows recognized the device, started installation but at about 10% it failed. Is this because of the device, is it incompatible? How do I know which one is good or not for the q6a? I want to order an official UFS module from Radxa but there is no stock for any versions.

ah so… I’m having a similar problem with one 265gb drive (no idea what brand), but its based off a SM2267XT - gen 4x4.

Currently I’ve had luck with a full sized kingdian and a kioxia BC150 (which wasn’t what I actually ordered, and seems to be B key, but it works) - both seem to be Gen 3 x4

Interestingly with the drive that didn’t work, it wouldn’t boot up if I imaged a working install on it, and failed at the same place on install. Could you try a gen3 SSD?

I bought the cheapest SSD M.2 2230 I could find on amazon, it is a Timetec Gen 4x4.
I was able to install windows on it without much trouble.

After installation I discovered that there is no windows drivers for the wifi. I tried with a cable and I got a strange networking issue (dhcp works, ping to router works, gateway is setup correctly however no internet connection, ping 8.8.8.8 does not work…). I switch back to linux.

wifi not working is a known issue - basically no one seems to have windows arm drivers for USB wifi.

The storage pickyness is a little strange but no idea how one would troubleshoot that, (Well and now I have spares for other projects I guess)

Bit of a question on drivers - I do get that right now, the drivers are a preview version. Will they get proper signatures in future (so we can take the windows install out of testing mode) and for future driver drops, will we have to install the drivers the same way always?

I have a KIOXIA BG6 SSD here which supports PCIe Gen 4. It works fine on the Q6A.

Hi. Could you try the official Realtek driver in the link below? It’s a known issue that the open-source if_re driver in the driver pack doesn’t work in certain network environment.

Note that you need to uninstall the old ethernet driver in device manager before installing the new one.

Finally, I managed to install windows on a different SSD, and after following the steps to install drivers, I get the same error as phoney1718. So back to the beginning….

Follow the steps exactly - I ran the first batch file in an admin terminal, then double clicked on the registry, then ran the second. You get that error if you didn’t run the registry file.

Any update on WIFI issue with windows? I need to use wifi to ethernet adapter then ethernet to USB adapter, it’s very very inconvenient experience.

I use Windows 11 on an NVMe SSD, with the internet connected via Ethernet. Sometimes, when I turn the computer on or wake it from sleep, the monitor’s resolution drops to a very low level — the text becomes almost unreadable, as if a 320×240 image were stretched to 1920×1080. Is this an issue with the graphics driver, or could something else be causing it?

I’d like to confirm whether the Radxa Dragon Q6A​ officially supports booting from a SATA SSD/HDD.

In my setup, I have connected a SATA SSD via a USB enclosure​ (controller: SM2246XT, SATA protocol).

Here’s the issue I’m facing:

  • Without additional drivers: Windows 11 ARM installs and boots successfully.

  • After installing drivers: Once I install some of the provided drivers (e.g., GPU driver), the system fails to boot and shows a blue screen with the error **“inaccessible boot device.”**​

Tested configurations:

  • Windows 11 ARM versions: 23H2, 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1 (Insider Preview).

  • UEFI/SPI firmware version: 260120.

In my testing, the issue was resolved by uninstalling the QcXhciFilter6490 driver.
It appears that the QcXhciFilter6490 driver is interfering with the USB storage controller during boot, which prevents the system from accessing the boot device.

Uninstalling this driver fixes the problem.

Could you try disabling Fast Startup to see if it prevents the issue, at least regarding cold boots?

You can find this setting here: Control PanelPower OptionsChoose what the power buttons do → Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable” → Uncheck “Turn on fast startup” .

Hi! Fast startup and hibernation were disabled right after installing the system. The problem lies somewhere else — it shows up quite unpredictably, making it hard to track down.

After installing Windows ARM, how to install Radxa OS or official Linux like Ubuntu on the same NVME SSD?
I tried Ubuntu iso but failed to boot setup. I wander why Q6A restarts when I choose Try or install Ubuntu.
