Will be new kernels for ROCK 5B / RK3588?

I’m thinking about buying a new Rock 5B with RK3588, to do transcoding work and multimedia, but I see to use Rockchip MPP, which enables you to use the chip transcoding capabilities (decoding/encoding video), you must use the BSP Kernel, which is currently based on Linux 6.1

My problem is, how much longer will this SBCs be supported? Will at any time be abandoned and therefore stop receiving new kernels?

6.1 is gonna be EOL in some months, are there any effort to get a new modern kernel working?

Last but not least, even if the current kernel is old, it’s at least getting patches and security updates? Like fixing Copy Fail or other CVEs? Or are the images like Radxa OS or ARMBIAN just accumulating CVEs and insecure holes with time to no end?

Most of the SoC’s features are already support by mainline kernel, you can check on them here. However in terms to HW video en/decoding support there are still some gaps but development is quite active.
