WiFi continuously connecting/disconnecting

Received a new Rock 5A board, 8 GB. Booted Debian from SDcard, all ok.
Then inserted an USB WiFi dongle to connect to my home WiFi network.
It worked, to a point. Every about 10 second there is a message telling that the network is disconnected, but immediately after it reconnects. All ok for about ten seconds, then the cycle repeats…

What’s going on ?

What wifi dongle is this? Maybe the driver is messed up.

It is a TP-LINK TL-WN821N dongle.
Tomorrow will go to the shop to buy a different one, maybe supporting also the 5GHz band.

Why not buy a normal, internal wifi/Bluetooth card?

Internal card ? On a Rock 5A SBC ?

Rock 5A has a normal m.2 E key, which is usually used for WiFi cards.

Understood, I had misinterpreted your suggestion.
But the problem is that going to the shop, I come back home with the dongle in my pocket.
Ordering the M.2 WiFi card from Radxa I will have to wait a few weeks for it to arrive from China…

Just buy an Intel wifi card like ax200 or any other. You don’t have to buy from China.

Ameridroid?

Amazon?

I am using an Intel 7265NGW, works really well for bluetooth and wifi. Got it on amazon.

Thanks. Just ordered from Amazon.

iirc it didn’t work out of the box, had to install drivers but worked fine after that.

I went with that one since it’s the fastest that supports BT that is listed as compatible on the wiki.
