i am playing around with rockchips u-boot, it is possible to init the hdmi in uboot proper stage and show splash images (logos) and so on during boot, but i do not know if it is possible render the stdout console with stdout=vidconsole. If this is possible it would be really helpfull to have a working uboot console just with hdmi and and an attached keyboard for recovery purposes…
Vidconsole in vendor u-boot
After a lot of investigation and getting lost in the code, i realized that rockchip uboot video driver is totally incompatible with video console driver in original uboot.
Rockchips uboot video driver is so called “drm” is mainly designed to show logo with android in mind and collabora’s mainlining effort does not include video drivers for uboot. I just dont understand why rockchip does not use existing uboot framework and decide create their own limited functional brolen thing.
