I noticed a DTS for a device called Rock 5T and was wondering if there is any information about this device available?
Upcoming Rock 5T

I donāt see anything new but thereās no indication this is the actual specs as I saw references to the 5B+ which this was drafted from.
The spec doesnāt look like an upgrade, it looks more like an in-between spec - more than the 5B, less the the 5B+. It still has the pretty average 5G/usb connector and only a single nvme slot that I could see. But only Gb ethernet not 2.5G - that seems a strange decision - cost i would imagine. They also talk about on-board emmc - but they did that with the 5B+ and still havenāt actually delivered that. Sure there are four display outputs, but how many people need 4 screens? So it looks like a yawn to me. My 2c
I was hoping it was something which would remedy my issue with the 5B+, I need a device with a m.2 B-key which supports both USB 3 and PCIe which I thought was the B+ but unfortunately it only supports USB 2.0 and not PCIe at all. Iām my opinion a b-key on a device manufactured in 2024 with USB 2.0 speeds is useless.
I just canāt see this being so niche but Iām biased because itās what I need
I agree. Radxa really dropped the ball with the 5B+. They didnāt release an updated case, they didnāt ship with emmc (despite advertising it as an upgrade), the 4G card I/F is obsolete. And donāt get me started on the MicroSD card holder - why oh why did they choose such a crappy little connector which leaves the card hanging out? Itās so frustrating because had they done these things the 5B+ would be pretty much unmatched. About the only other improvement I can think of would be a 2nd 2.5Gb port - but the pcb layout is really cramped and I can see the struggle for real estate.
My own 5B+ setup uses a 1Tb SD card plugged in to the 4G connector for data that is pretty static. I run OpenmediaVault with a cli-only build of bookworm, have have multiple TB of media files on the NVMEās. The on-board wifi works great with the help of some internal foil antennaās. A great little travel server. It weighs almost nothing (3D printed ABS case) and the transfer speed (both wifi and ethernet) is on a par with a desktop.
Iām using your case also, itās so well designed. I also would choose a passively cooled case like the 5B has given the option but Iām content with your design.
