UFS for Rock 5A

Hello ,

i am interested in this product

and am wondering if it supports UFS Modules for Storage.

Thank you very much.

You might have a look at the Radxa Rock 4D…

thanks, but no, i am looking for sbc sans wifi/blueooth.

Well, I’m typing this on a Radxa Rock 5B (not the 5B+) equipped with a NVMe SSD. My backup machine is also a 5B, also with an NVMe SSD, but with an Intel AX200 m2 card for wifi and bluetooth.

None of the 5-series support UFS, as far as I know.

Then Radxa does not have what you want. You need to look better or else be smarter. Will be a challenge I guess.

Huh, i lost my glasses long time ago;

the connector look like it could accept UFS, but then that would be probable too smart for a newer generation to have feattures the older generation has.

EDIt: nevermind, it seem the rk3576 actually newer SOC , a bit, and DataSheet for rk3588s2 state https://dn.odroid.com/RK3588S2/ODROID-M2/Docs/Rockchip%20RK3588S2%20Datasheet%20V1.0-20231101.pdf

for memory organization that

SPI interface
 eMMC interface
 SD/MMC interface

is enabled.

so it will be ready for successor of rk3588 guess then;

nevermind, and thanks again for the help.

The connector looks like it accepts UFS, but the Rockchip 3588 used in the 5-series SBCs does not. The connector has one end for eMMC and the other is only used to hold the module mechanically.

The Rock 4D is based on the Rockchip 3576 (a close relative to the 3588) that supports both eMMC and UFS. The memory connector has one end for eMMC and the other for UFS.

have another question:

would this SBC easily allow for dual-boot?

e.g when eMMC connected, boot from eMMC; when eMMC + SDcard connected, boot from SDCard, unless otherwise configured?

or otherwise asked: if eMMC and sdCard present, would it easily allow for booting from eMMC (instead of SdCard)?

thanks.

Armbian does this by default. Not sure about RadxaOS. To reconfigure this you need to rebuild uboot so not that easy
