Been following the threads about using external GPUs and enjoying them immensely. I’ll keep following them just to see what happens.
Meanwhile I’m also curious about the GPU that already lives inside the RK3588 SoC.
I’ve heard Panthor is coming for the Mali G610. Is there a thread about it that I can follow, like the ones about the external GPUs?
My own system is a Rock 5B running openSUSE Tumbleweed.
The panthor driver is already merged for the 6.10 kernel release cycle, so that’s about 15 weeks from now. Tumbleweed usually lags a bit when there’s a major kernel upgrade so I’d expect September.
Userspace driver is merged for Mesa 24.1 release, rc1 will be tomorrow, and stable release should be in May, assuming 23.2 doesn’t happen again.
@Linnaea_Lavia – Thank you for your response. I imagined there would be some waiting involved, but it is interesting to see the development happening. I used to be a programmer so the work is interesting to watch, but I can’t code anymore so watching is pretty much all I can do nowadays.
