Tariffs make ordering the O6 in the US untenable

Besides the shipping delays meaning my shipment didn’t make it before tariffs, there’s no blame to lay on Radxa or Cix here… but I just received the following email from ARACE:

Due to high customs duties, our DHL and Fedex service providers have suspended shipping services to the US.

Currently, we can only offer shipping to the U.S. through the 4PX logistics channel, but prepayment of taxes is required.

If you can still accept the high tariffs, you can choose 4PX to place a new order.

We will refund the payment and it will take 3~7 business days to return the refund to your account.

I went over to the site to try a new order…

From $299 for the original pre-order to $311.90… that I can stomach. From $311.90 to $1500.90? Not so much :frowning:

I just had to compare that to Germany and that’s over 3.5x the cost. That’s crazy

I was worried about this… I’m glad I impulse ordered the naked board once I heard Trump talking tariffs. I really feel for any SBC company that sold to western markets a lot going forward

Sorry, no offence, i couldn’t help myself, I didn’t expect to live this long to see you guys pay more tariffs than we do here. We pay 100%, and it’s a great strategy to destroy an economy.

Imagine what the price would be on the tariffs you would pay for the Orion’s being sold on Aliexpress by scalpers who are three times the price of Arace!

I should note the original shipping fee was $85 shipping I believe through DHL.

Jeff, check out good old allnet china

Arace is trying the best a they can, we all know that recent changes were difficult, but as always there are some chances that it’s simple mistake in price calculation. I don’t know if allnet is already updated with pricing or not, but it may worth to try.

Interesting; Allnet is showing $383 total with shipping. Cheaper than even the older pricing on ARACE.

It makes me wonder, if I did order through Allnet, would the package be held at customs until I pay locally? It doesn’t even tell me the shipping carrier at checkout on Allnet.

Arace started this policy about the time that orion came out. They added really high shipping cost to every product > $100, for orion it was something like $80. They claimed that there were many problems and they need extra insurance, but final price was just higher.
Allnet had shipping choice on older site, it disappeared after update. There was dhl and 4px available. With bigger orders they contact about shipping and suggest DHL (something upgrading it for free).
Here in Europe for small package there were usually no additional costs. Some packages were labelled as free samples or low value. Some were checked by customs and small amounts were added (usually paid on delivery). DHL here have highest price for same process and requires to send invoice for all items, pay confirmation and few other things to get as high amount as possible (plus their cost for this process). Any missing document will result in return or package destroy (!). When I sent my Rock SBC to SoC reballing they added same taxes like for new one (!), so I learned to choose anything else than DHL. Hope You will have more luck than me.

Tariffs are dropping from 145% to 30% for the next 90 days.

I do not live in the US, i live in Argentina, but let me tell you that when i ordered via Allnet, FedEX charged me an additional u$s100 in taxes at my front door.

So expect something like that could happen.
