[SOLVED] Flashing Rock Pi5 Android image to SD from a GNU/Linux system

Hi there,

What would be the procedure to flash an Android image for Rock Pi 5 on a GNU/Linux computer?
With the familiar and standard “dd” command, the resulting SD won’t boot.
There are propietary Rockchip tools for Windows, which is an OS I don’t have and won’t use.

So, any idea on how to flash these Android images using a GNU/Linux computer, please?

Regards

Manuel

PD: Using the closed/propietary Windows tools with WINE doesn’t work either, so please don’t send me there, I already tried.

Comical how often I keep seeing “Pi5” on the forum. Where did this even come from?

Are you on an x64 or x86 system? Balena Etcher is available for those.

They also have .deb and .rpm packages.

Yep, not sure where the “pi” part came from. Maybe it was inspired by the popularity of an old board no one can buy anymore? Who knows!

Well, I got it working. I did a simple “dd” on the latest Android image, and it works perfectly well! Yay!

Thanks anyway for trying to help me. I don’t know why it didn’t work before…
