RockPi 4b+ MIPI DSI display Debian 11 (Works in Debian 10)

I have a RockPi 4b+ and am presently running the 4b+ version of the Debian 11 Desktop (Linux 5.10) distribution from here: https://wiki.radxa.com/Rockpi4/downloads

I want to use it with a Raspberry Pi 7" touch screen. I have an official touch screen that works with a Raspberry Pi 3b+ that I have.

The RockPi works great with the HDMI output, but I want to connect it with the MIPI DSI output. I enabled the overlay using rsetup, but I can’t tell if it worked because I have no change on my touchscreen, and only HDMI-1 is showing up in the Display Configuration.

I am using the MIPI DSI cable that works with the Raspberry Pi. I see the RockPi 4c needs a special cable, but I don’t think I need that with the 4b+.

I see a few topics about this screen, but none of them seem to be relevant to this model with OS with the rsetup overlay management.

Any help to get this working is appreciated, I am not sure how to check if the overlay enable worked, or if I need to modify or enable something else.

My dmesg is attached

dmesg.zip (16.3 KB)

I installed Debian 10 with XFCE desktop, added the overlay in /boot/hw_intfc.conf and now the Rockpi 4b+ works with the Raspberry Pi 7" touch screen. Maybe rsetup has an issue with the rockpi 4b+. I see at this point it is just a beta release, so maybe the easiest option at the moement is to use the Debian 10 distribution.

I did also try to enable the overlay directly in hw_intfc.conf in Debian 11 and it did not work.
