I have this pretty old board for while and it worked very well for my Nextcloud server.
but recently we had a several power outages during storm and rock-pi stopped to work.
it doesnt boot at all and monitor display remains black - no HDMI signal.
I started to check it and found that power source produce 9v instead 5v!
I have USB charger HNT QC530 like this
and on the case printed: Output: 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A
and when I checked the voltage on board with my multimeter - is was 9v.
so this is maybe the reason - after power outage this QC charger “decide“ to output 9v instead 5v.
But despite this - power LED (Green) works and Status LED (Blue) - also works.
And power button seems works as well - when I press it for 5 sec - Status LED become dim.
In addition, the CPU chip does not heat up.
And when I connect another 5V charger from my second RPI4 (not QC so it can produce only 5V) - LEDs behave same way - green and blue and after press power button - dim blue.
So I suppose that probably power circuit can be repaired.
Can someone point me which component I can check and replace to fix the board?
9v or 5v even 12v all can boot the PI X, that’s not the issue
LED status looks normal, can you try connect keyboard and check the LED can lit up?
If still no luckly, please refer this https://wiki.radxa.com/RockpiX/bios
well..I re-flashed BIOS chip with file ROCKPI_V12_X64_20200924.bin
same story - LED on board works, but no HDMI signal.
checked USB ports - 4.88v only in USB3, the rest 3 ports - seems just off - 0v.
looks like it is dead, or I can do smth else?
If you can monitor the total input current of the board, you can check whether the current rises at all to help determine if the issue is with the CPU or BIOS.
If the current seems normal, you may consider replacing the BIOS chip.
If possible, could you also use the DEBUG port to check the logs?
is it possible to see BIOS only via minicom tool which is possible only under Linux?
or there is way to check BIOS under Windows?
this is strange - I played with serial port adapter board and serial cable - connected it to rockpi and tried to see somth in windows serial terminal program (termit in my case) - but no luck so far.
but! suddenly my rockpi started to boot! NumLock key started to work.
I logged in in my ubuntu - all good and I can see my files. rebooted once - all ok.
so I left the board powered on for night and now I returned to it - and it is again issue - no boot no screen, no numlock on keyb. strange..
idk I don’t know if this will give rise to any thoughts.
I have 2 USB type C sources for power my board.
1st - QC adapter which shows me that output is 9v
when I power the board with it - I can hear some high freq noise from board.
is it possible to say - all good with current or not?
and that noise also suspected - maybe I just need replace some LDO on board which cause this issue
