Rock 5T MPP and Encoding

Just got the Rock 5T and trying to do HDMI In Video Encoding and not seeing any Hardware Encoding available? What do we have to do to get hardware encoding on the 5T for HDMI in Video? Alot of outdated information out there on the MPP.

If you don’t mind sharing, where did you purchase that 5T. We would like to test it and need a few of them.

You can buy it from:

Did you ever figure this out? @swthpk32

Yes fortunately, and unfortunately. Ended up trying multiple different install attempts from multiple different sources I found online and somehow got encoding working. I don’t have a good source to point you towards though. Just tried everything I came across for MPP install instructions.

I’ve also ran into ongoing issues using the decoder as well. I still haven’t been able to work through that. The Rockchip support is extremely lacking unfortunately. So many different 3rd parties trying to make it work and in different ways.

Sorry, should also add the HDMI encoding I abandoned because we were running into crashes while using it RGA errors to be exact. Found this on the RGA errors :https://github.com/Joshua-Riek/ubuntu-rockchip/issues/1133

We ended up having to go to external HDMI to USB capture cards, which was one of the big reasons we went with a Rock5t to begin with was because of the HDMI In port.

This covers everything that is stable: https://github.com/nyanmisaka/ffmpeg-rockchip and even some added features. This will be the closest you’ll find to a well maintained video solution on rockchip. Check the wiki on GitHub too. Explains everything you could need for MPP and such

I’ve seen that, but we are not using ffmpeg. And adding to the frustration, I read in a few places rockchip doesn’t support ffmpeg? Not sure if true or not, but just adds to the confusion and more 3rd party’s trying to make things work. And that’s my point. Where is the manufacturer for support?
