Rock 5C debian vertical screen tearing

I have noticed some strange behaviour when trying to use Rock5C with debian 12 in vertical mode. Whenever there is movement I can see some serious screen tearing near the top of the screen wich I can’t seem to get rid of.
I’ve tried multiple Images from the radxa builder but I keep getting the same issue.
In this example using latest b2 version from radxa-build github with kernel version 6.1.84-6.
Have also tried some images from RadxaOS-SDK github to no avail.

Is this a known issue that will possibly be fixed in the near future?

I am facing the same issue!
It’s only happening in vertical mode.
I already tried switching monitors/cables, framerate, resolution. Issues still persists.
This screen tearing always appears in the same area as shown in the video.

The issue is aesthetic in nature and not caused by a hardware or software fault. The root of the problem is that you’re using a landscape-oriented display in portrait mode. A similar issue can be observed when using a portrait-oriented display in landscape mode (e.g., with Orange Pi devices). This phenomenon is due to a low refresh rate, likely not even reaching 60Hz.
The only way to eliminate this completely is to use a native portrait-oriented display without rotating the desktop 90 degrees.

How can an ‘expert’ write such rubbish. If you have no idea, it’s better to write nothing than rubbish like that. The error only exists in connection with x11 and is not present in Wyland. It is also not present in Debian 11. The error can be found in Debian 12 with Raxda x4 as well as with 5c. But Raxda doesn’t seem to care that half of their rubbish doesn’t work. It’s just easier to sell to the masses than to take care of the problems of a few.

If you’re so smart, then please explain why the same issue occurs under Armbian on an Orange Pi 5 Pro, Max, or Ultra when using a portrait-oriented display in landscape mode?

OK - open exchange of blows. Why is the error not visible under Wayland with the same hardware? Have you ever watched Otte’s video? The error is always on the right side of the picture. And one more thing. With a Rock4 OP1 and Debian 10 with x11 there is also no error - of course with the same monitor.

You’re right, what I wrote was total bullshit…

That can happen - but I’m still looking for a solution to the problem. Who can help?
