I wonder if Rock 5B+ M.2 B Key Connector can take 3rd short ssd.
If yes, can we boot from it and use 2 m2 connectors on hte bottom for RAID?

I don’t think anything can prevent it from recognising the third SSD. As for booting, not sure.

You would have to use M.2 B-Key to USB adapter like this. These are available in USB-A, USB-C and SD variants. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EG2qw8g

TLDR: it is pointless since M.2 B-key is on USB2 only, i.e. 480Mbit/s.
