Radxa Dragon Q6A firmware snapshot

Repeating: is there any way to upgrade RadxaOS without reimaging the whole drive?

I am on the T4 image that was recommended in the install. Rsetup upgrade causes the machine to not boot. I would like to go to a more recent version, but now I have to reinstall all my apps and settings. This is very frustrating.

Has anyone tested the UEFI2026-01-20 firmware with the latest Armbian desktop system? I am unable to access the desktop.

not the latest version, but I had no issues booting up my Armbian 25.11.2 stable 6.18.0-rc6-edge-qcs6490 (from NVMe) after updating the firmware to 2026-01-20

My boot on Armbian Gnome is stuck at ā€œNow starting desktop environmentā€¦ā€. What is the problem and how to fix?

Hi!

I managed to run xrandr via export DISPLAY=:0. The system recognizes the display as DSI-1 (800x1280). When I turn off HDMI and turn on DSI, the 8" screen’s backlight turns on, but the screen remains completely black (no cursor, no icons). I also tried restarting GDM, but it didn’t help

Maybe it’s in dpms standby or screen-saver mode. Have a look at ā€œxset dpmsā€ (-/+/…) as well as ā€œxset s onā€, ā€œxset s activateā€ or ā€œxset s noblankā€. I never remember the right ones to be honest, you’ll have to fiddle with them.

So updating the latest firmware would cause me to lose 0.5g of available memory? (cry :frowning:

I’m having the same problem. I installed this image radxa-dragon-q6a_noble_gnome_r2.output_512.img, updated the system, and enabled HD 8 in rsetup, the final firmware from 2025, and tested with 2026. It starts up and recognizes the HD DISPLAY but shows a black screen with the logo on the HDMI. I also tried connecting only the display and nothing… any solution?

Just wanted to let everyone know that usb A-to-C data cables work as well, and are much more common than A-to-A. At least on my Q6A, I was able to use an A-to-C cable with the USB A side plugged into the board, and the USB C side plugged into my computer. Be aware though that not all USB-C cables carry data – many are only power delivery and will not work for this purpose.

@strongtz if possible, it may be worth updating this in the guidance here or in the documentation as I have seen a fair few mentions on this forum and elsewhere that seemed discontent about needing to buy an A-to-A cable

Those with display issues after updating to firmware 26-01-20. Are you getting the Radxa logo or zero video output? I just updated to this firmware and while getting a solid green light, there is no video going out at all.

@ChenJaly can you verify this?

@MarkusAntonius I tested and confirmed that the HDMI display of the boot firmware works normally

After logging into the system, is the HDMI display normal?

I’m not getting any HDMI output at all, not even an option to enter the bios.

I get a solid green light that flashes off and on again every 20 seconds or so. No white light at all.

I will try flashing the firmware again and see if I can get it working
