Radxa Cubie A7A: No Audio via Headphone Jack after upgrade

I lost audio for the headphone jack after January 26 upgrade.
Thanks to Tom @Radxa for his help on this. Here is the solution:

You can check your audio codec to enable the overlay, please follow:
https://docs.radxa.com/en/cubie/a7a/hardware-use/headphone

First make sure that you do an upgrade with Rsetup first as some of the overlays were not available then.

  • Lately the updates remove the overlays, even those in /boot/dtbo_old. They are located in /boot/dtbo and should have several files. You have to dig the folder out of the original OS download or installation prior to updates and make yourself a copy. Each update, can then copy them over:
  • sudo cp -rv /home/your-username/Documents/dtbo /boot/
  • You need at least these two files:
  • managed.list
  • cubie-a7a-enable-sunxi-ac101-sound-card.dtbo

Also, if you use the Mate (faster and more stable) or other desktop environment and the audio still does not work after enabling the AC101 overlay, login to your Kde desktop and get the sound to work there. Then it should work with Mate.
