This new RK chip makes the RK3588 look very slow. What’s the story here?
Radxa 6, and the RK3688 chip?
Well, Radxa spread the news about RK3688 asking about Rock 6 features…
RK3588 appeared first in April 2019 and was in mass-production at least 2.5 years later (the RK3588 on my early Rock 5B developer sample reads ‘week 52 of 2021’)
Back then in 2019 Rockchip already knew which ARM cores they will put onto the SoC unlike this time where they talk about yet unannounced ARMv9.3 cores that have not even a name yet.
As such Rk3688 might be even more vaporware than RK3588 at this point in time so why not simply waiting a few years until RK3688 becomes a product?
