Since we have edk2 firmware for rk3588, it will be good to use an iso to boot a live system from a usb disk, and install the system to any storage, with customized partition and filesystem.
I build an iso by debian-live with armbian’s 5.10 kernel. You can dd this iso to a udisk or copy it to a udisk formatted by ventoy, and then boot it from uefi.

Debian bookworm is recommended because the live installer calamares has better support for debian than ubuntu. Ubuntu jammy iso is just a live only system, don’t use its installer to install.
For rock5b, since pd negoation is not implemented in edk2 firmware, it’s better to use a dummy DC power.
One uefi iso for all rk3588 SBC!
