NVME 2230 not detected

Good day,

done all the steps without falling none and installed windows ARM64 on Dragon Q6A.

- updated SBC firmware to latest via EDL with another Windows 11 x64 computer.

- done a setup USB for install win11

- installed on NVMe in the Q6A SBC, running.

- completed installation with Drivers from Radxa, deactivated sleep, installed everything and working really fine.

- after two of three hours working, the system reboots itself and no way to find the SSD.

- purchased another 2 NVMe 2230 SSD but the SBC doesn’t recognise the SSDs.

Is it broken the NVMe socket?? because disks are recognised in another systems.

I am running Windows 11 (25H2) on a Dragon with 12GB RAM and a Crucial P310. No Problems so far.

I had no problem to install it (Win11 ARM64 25H2) until I had, just around three hours after doing the whole system adjustment and working really fine, as told in my previous message that computer restarted and never anymore the SBC detect any SSD.

I had the same board Dragon Q6A 12Gb

Sorry to hear that the NVMe 2230 SSD is no longer recognized on your Dragon Q6A.

Could you please check whether the SSDs are still detected in RadxaOS? You can write a RadxaOS image to an SD card, boot the board from it, and then check whether the SSD is detected under Linux.

This will help us determine whether the issue is related to the hardware or only to Windows / UEFI.

I would like to clarify and update you with additional testing to avoid any misunderstanding:

  • The NVMe SSD was initially working correctly with Windows 11 ARM64.

  • After a sudden reboot, the board stopped detecting the NVMe completely.

  • Since then, I have tested multiple NVMe 2230 SSDs, and none of them are detected on this board.

  • All SSDs are fully functional and are correctly recognized on other systems.

Additionally, I have followed your recommendation:

  • I created a RadxaOS image on an SD card and booted the board from it.

  • The NVMe SSD was installed in its socket during the test.

  • I executed the necessary commands under RadxaOS to check for NVMe detection.

  • lsblk > no result only detected SD

  • sudo nvme list > empty line

  • The result was negative: the SSD is not detected under Linux either.

Based on these results, the issue does not appear to be related to Windows or UEFI, as the NVMe is not detected in any environment.

Given the sequence (working correctly → sudden reboot → no detection at all with multiple known-good SSDs), this strongly suggests a possible hardware failure of the NVMe interface on the board.

Please let me know if there are any further diagnostics you would like me to perform, or if we should proceed with a hardware evaluation/replacement.

I still haven’t got any answer about this matter, I’ve just received a Radxa UFS module and got it working with windows 11, but the NVMe socket seems to de dead.

should I issue an RMA for exchange the board?, because I bought it for being running with all devices available

I was facing some boot problems on my q6a board. I allways use NVMe slot on my tests.
Then I notice some semi micro dust particle on NVMe slot, I used a soft brush, then I try and it solves the problem.
And if you are using any fan os GPIO, I strogly suggest that remove it just to try it.

thanks for the answer, I already did the cleaning of the contacts in NVMe socket without success. and tested 3 different SSDs too, and none was detected.

it worked only around three hours the first day. now I’m running with the UFS really well but not able to have SSD.

Do you have some other M.2 devices to test on the port? Even 2280 devices can be just plugged in for testing.

If you are still having the issue with the latest BIOS, you may want to contact the original seller for warranty options.

Yes, I’ve tried with three different 2230 SSDs with no success, I’ve contacted with the seller for warranty return and the mobo is packed now for return.
