No WiFi on Zero v1.5 (hardware defect?)

I have a Radxa Zero v1.5, no internal memory, WiFi chip AP6212. I’ve tried several of the official recent images by Radxa (Ubuntu, Debian) (like Armbian_22.08.0-trunk_Radxa-zero_bullseye_current_5.10.134_minimal) but WiFi doesn’t work. I can’t see any interface when using nmcli according to Radxa’s manual.

In dmesg I get

brcmfmac: F1 signature read @0x18000000=0xffffffff
brcmfmac: brcmf_chip_recognition: chip backplane type 15 is not supported
brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_probe_attach: brcmf_chip_attach failed!
brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_probe: brcmf_sdio_probe_attach failed
brcmfmac: brcmf_ops_sdio_probe: F2 error, probe failed -19...

Any hints? Is this a hardware issue?

@RadxaYuntian Any idea about this? I don’t have the new WiFi chip (CM256SM) but the old one (AP6212) but still it doesn’t work with any Linux distro. Is this a hardware defect?

Can you give this test build a try and check if Wi-Fi is working? The older systems are missing the necessary firmware for AP6212.

Thank you for your response. Interestingly, only radxa-zero_debian_bullseye-test_kde_t2.img.xz works. The CLI version does not work, following your manual.
