No OS (eg. ROOBI) pre-installed

Hi,
Just received my 8GB RAM Rock 5 ITX board yesterday. Great.
I had a quick fright when powering it on since nothing happened at all… Hopefully, plugging the usb-c to my PC shows that the BootROM was running, meaning it didn’t found any valid booting image.

Booting with microSD image was fine, and give me a way to check the eMMC and SPI content… they are empty.

I don’t really care since my first action would be to erase them, but I wonder if other customer will not be unhappy to not have a “ROOBI OS is Pre-installed on Onboard eMMC”, ready to boot, as claimed bu product description…

I had the same experience. I kinda knew i was in for a rough around the edges experience when I bought mine, but I am interested in seeing a usable, genuine, ARM desktop that doesn’t cost >>$1K so I went for it. I would love to see that a reasonable human could buy one of these and make a great desktop out of the box. I have only had mine a couple of weeks too, but I will be sharing anything I can. btw/ if you find your back-panel audio working (in stereo), please drop me a line! I’ve had little luck so far, but I will share any learnings I have. :slight_smile:
