New to rock, I can't understand how to use this board or this forum

I came form Raspberry pi , and I can not for the life of me figure this thing out
or the forum.

where do I even find the latest images, and why are there no stickies with the image files or how to flash them in the rock 5 section?
I got the EMMC adapter so now what do I do here, the forum kinda sucks and is a nightmare to navigate.
I am looking for the latest official android build and whatever tool I need to flash it to the EMMC with the adapter and a basic guide on what to do
all I find here are unorganized random posts.
I don’t know what style of forum this is or what you call it but it absolutely sucks, Wyze and Samsung smartthings uses the same one and it’s just absolute F ing cancer.
a god awful nightmare to navigate and looks like visual diarrhea.
I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone uses it.

Yeah the forum isn’t not great. If you got the adapter, use Balena Etcher, Rufus or another thing to put an image on it. Those that were reported to work are the Box image from @thc013 and official android and Linux builds (links on the Radxa wiki).

Of you prefer the Armbian kernel then your options are vanilla Armbian or dietpi. If you’re building a server then dietpi might be better but for desktop use go with Armbian.

Then just put the eMMC onto the board and boot.

Ok thanks I see the wiki and the getting started now, so the Android rk_12 is bootable from the EMMC then and the Android 12 for rock pi 5 image is not bootable from EMMC correct?
Sorry but it gets little chingrish-y over there on the wiki and I’m not sure if they mean neither will boot from emmc or just the second one called Android 12.
and the user made google TV image is probably bootable from emmc , but I keep reading a bunch of posts about people not being able to get it to boot or having sound or wifi issues, so maybe I better just stick to the Android r_12 for now then till they get the google TV image perfected more?

I think I will start with Android for now just to see if everything is working.

EDIT:I have never worked with EMMC before, windows does not seem to recognize anything is inserted ,do I need to install some special drivers or something?
I have the micro sd to emmc adapter I plug it in and I get nothing nothing is showing up.

I boot the Google tv image from emmc. All images except the NVME ones should boot from memory cards. You need to push the card in from both sides, use some force until it clicks. No drivers needed.

Boot problems appear (as I understand them) when you’re using a slow SD card, which won’t be an issue on emmc

yeah I got the adapter working and got the image flashed finally, it wasn’t the EMMC connector it was the micro SD reader it was plugged in to, I had to us the oldest one I had, the one I figured would be the last one that would work ,that is the one that worked! Windows recognized it , but Balena failed during verification
after a lot of aggravation and trying different partition manager software I finally had one partition with the full amount of unallocated space again and tried it again, this time I literally did not even breathe during the write and it said finished successfully, WHEW
finally.
but I am still not clear if this image ( Android rk_12) is bootable from the EMMC

Yes it is bootable from eMMC

The RaPi and it’s forum are much more nooby than this forum that is more technical. 'Cause it does not suit you vote with your feet. I like it.
