With the HDMI IN:
Is it possible to capture multichannel Audio?
There are quite a lot of formats:
5.1 AC3
8 Channel PCM
Dolby Atoms
Can it capture 96kHz audio?
I want to capture the sound and send it over the Network.
I am not interessted in video capture. Only the audio.
Yes, you can list all the sound input by command pacmd list-sources
The driver should determine the audio frequency based on the input source. When I did some testing it was reporting 48Khz for my input source but it should support 96Khz. I’m not sure about the different formats ie Dolby/ 5.1 AC3. The driver supports video mute but I haven’t tested to verify it works or not. Having spent a fair amount of time trying to code for HDMI IN I would caution if you expect this to fully work out of the box.
It is ok if i have to fiddle around with it.
I just wanted to know if there are technical limitations.
Because most of the input chips are just stereo.
