Is this supposed to work?

I bought, together with a Rock 5A board, a 32GB eMMC module, and a eMMC adapter to connect it as if it were a micro SDcard. See the photo.
Then inserted the adapter into another adapter to bring the size to that of a normal SD card, and finally all of this was inserted into a SD card reader with an USB connector.

I tried to make the eMMC module visible to Debian Linux on my PC, no joy… neither Windows 10 can read it… the various adapters work, tested with a real micro SDcard…

Should this configuration work ? Suggestions ?
Thanks

The eMMC to SD adapter doesn’t seem to work with many fast USB adapters. Get a usb2 adapter.

Quite right. An old USB2 card reader did the trick. Thanks indeed.
Wouldn’t it be a good thing to advise of this on the page of the product ?
It would have saved me a few hours of head scratching…
