Is it necessary to have an external antenna for ROCK PI S to use WIFI and BT?

I’ve just got my new Rock Pi S, but I don’t see any WLAN interface through both ifconfig and networkctl. I haven’t install an antenna yet ( I don’t have one)，and I want to know if an external antenna is necessary for my ROCK PI S to enable WIFI or that it just doen’t support WIFI and Bluetooth. Many thanks!

I figure out that the Rock PI S I got doesn’t support wifi and Bluetooth, because it doesn’t have the WIFI/BT chip showed in the following picture.
