Any ETA when Rock5 will be available on allnet? I need several things and now waiting for Rock5 to complete my order. Are those days or maybe months?

1000000 dollar question. I’m wondering the same thing myself

Ok I bought the code but now what am I supposed to do with it?
this is all very confusing and not explained well at all here
I bought the code from Ameridroid ,and now I went to make the preorder purchase and to apply the discount code but I am not seeing the pre discount prices advertised in OP of this thread on the Ameridroid site
it says $129 for the 4GB variant and $149 for the 8GB variant in the OP
but when I add them to my cart on ameridroid it says $144.95 for the 4GB variant
and $169.95 for the 8GB
it shows in the OP that the final price for 4GB should be $79 with the code
and that the final price for the 8GB should be $100 after code
the prices are $20 more
and also I asked if the $5 I paid for the code would be applied to the final price and was told it would but it is not apply the $5 and the price has not what is advertised in the OP
so where do I get the advertised prices?
do I buy it from another site than where I got the code?
like buy it direct or something?
EDIT: ok it looks like Ameridroid is for shipping from the US
and allnet.china is from China shipping with the lower price
so I went to preorder from allnet.china and it says all preorders are sold out
so how do I get to use the coupon code then?
are preorders coming back in stock?
what happens if they do not restock preorders?
am I guaranteed a board at the advertised price if I bought the coupon or not?
is there another distributor that will ship to the US that offers that pricing that I can place the preorder from now?
if the board starts shipping before the preorders come back in stock then is the coupon still good for ordering the board when they are in stock and shipping?
EDIT: ok I see that the pre order codes are sold from both Ameridroid and allnet
I did not look at he prices from both before I bought the code from Ameridroid
I assumed it was all the same
so my question is now this
can I use the code I bought from Ameridroid if I decide to order from allnet ?
( I want to order from allnet)
will a code purchased from Ameridroid apply on the allnet site, are the codes like a manufacturers coupon or are they specific to each distributor?
in other words do I need return my purchase from Ameridroid and rebuy the coupon from allnet if want to order from allnet and get the prices in the OP or can I used the code I bought form ameridroid on my allnet order?
EDIT:
it says in the OP that " R3 code can be canceled and refunded at any time before shipping"
but on Ameridroid site it says the coupon code can not be refunded
this is not good if I can not use my coupon purchased from Ameridroid on allnet site and my coupon from Ameridroid can not be refunded,
very confusing!

@am666

You can refer this presentation for the redeem code:

https://dl.radxa.com/rock5/5b/ROCK5B%20Announcement%20and%20Marketing%20Strategy.pdf

You can not buy redeem code from Ameridroid then use on Allnet or vice versa

EDIT: ok sorry , yes Ameridroid has refunded the code
now I am wondering about shipping price for northeast US from allnet.china
do you happen to know what shipping will be?

RTFM " Read The F***ing Manual "

When can I redeem the code?

  • The ROCK5 is expected to be available for shipping during Q2 2022 if everything goes according to plan. However, you should receive your coupon code within 48 hours of ordering, and it will be immediately active for a $50 discount on the purchase of any ROCK5

Can I change my mind after buying the code?

  • Yes! The R3 code can be refunded at any time before July 1, 2022 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<:grin:

Ameridroid !

ok but on Ameridroid site is says preorder policy
the preorder is not refundable
Please note:

  • Preorders cannot be cancelled/refunded once placed . We are often required to place a non-refundable deposit with the manufacturer well in advance of availability.

so does the code not count as a preorder then?

EDIT: ok Ameridroid did refund me
but they informed me that the shipping form allnet.china might be higher
does anyone know what the shipping will be
and final cost including shipping to northeast US?

@jack any distributions for Europe ? As I don’t want to pay huge import tax and VAT

@mIIsko Soon there will be a big distributor in EU, stay tuned.

@jack, in this case, will it be possible to get the board from the EU distributor instead of China or US one and still be able to use the discount codes that are already purchased? It should be faster shipping and also no import taxes.

Do you know how much shipping will be from China allnet.china to northeast US?
will it be cheaper to order direct from China than from the US distributor?

This is great news that some of us are waiting for
I made few orders from both allnet and ameridroid, from here should be just easier and faster. Also I hope that those boards will be much more popular here, now people say that they dont have place to buy radxa here and they don’t trust allnet or sometimes they just need EU invoice.

@jack any estimate for rock5 on allnet? More than two months?

well, the latest PDF that he shared says (on page 6) that shipping is expected for Q3, not Q2. So if this is right, I’d say 2 to 4 months before shipping.

perhaps, will reveal new raspberrypi5 at Q3, therefore, wait.

Thanks for a catch! Q3 starts soon, but still we can be suprised with earlier date or some delay. Some RK3588 boards are popping on Youtube as well as few interesting products coming (like mixtile). No big rush, I just need to plan that, carefully

I doubt it as Raspberry are purely reactive and after the rk3588 has been released if it garners popularity then likely we will see a Pi5 maybe.
They have a huge problem though as a Pi5 will have to beak compatibility totally and as VC6 isn’t scalable and currently they have no alternative. VC6 is basically some tweaks to VC4 which is purely a video DSP that is the bootloader of the Pi where what they might do as an only option is release with PCIe GPU compatibility.
There current range has been a huge success for them doubling sales and with Raspberry you can almost guarantee it will be later than sooner and have a hunch this year is far too soon.
If they also try to retain the $35 base model then we are a long, long time off.

Any way to save USB type-c and power up the board through something else (battery pins or dc in connector)?

I am hoping that the release of the Rock5b is imminent. Very exciting times for single board computer lovers! Khadas released their latest version of the Vim. That board is cool I have the Vim3 pro and it’s been great. That said , the Rock5b is the board I ordered and the one I want

It’s nice to see some khadas upgrade, but I’m really disappointed with its price and some of specs, they still use old cores what makes it almost two times slower than rk3588:
https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/13973601?baseline=14170348
and NVME is still 1x lane (vs 4x on Rock 5 or Rock 4c+). Sure - nice to see upgrade from 4GB to 8GB, but yet again we will get 16GB on same price level with Rock5 (and we may see 32GB on this chip like with mixtile blade).
I have two khadas VIM3 pro and they are small and cute. It’s perfectly sized board with best case and some unique features. I would buy new VIM at half of it’s price, but not much more. It’s far behind expected rock5
