Installing ubuntu on rock pi x

I recently bought rockpi x, I want to install ubuntu on it
on this link https://wiki.radxa.com/RockpiX/install/ubuntu at one place it says below

sudo dd if=ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=8M status=progress

does this step ubuntu install iso file to the /dev/sdc or does it prepare to prompt user to install ubuntu as shown if we scroll down the above link ?

can I use balena etcher to install ubuntu to ssd?

Hello,
It is better to use etcher if you’re not sure about the drive you want to flash and not familiar with dd command.

well it was simple enough I followed the instruction how I am supposed to run dd command, i deleted everything from my pendrive and ran the command .

not sure I need to prepare my pendrive before running the dd command !
