I got a new Zero 3W - is it broken?

Hi,
I got myself a new Zero 3w with 1GB of RAM and NO eMMC.
I installed the OS to my liking ,OpenWRT, according to the guide to an SD card but the system does not boot as expected.

To make things a bit shorter, I tried 4 OS’s which should be supported by the device but I don’t get any output on my HDMI nor do I get any logs written.

Therefore i would state that either the device is broken or the firmware is defect.

To analyze that topic further I poked around with the rkdeveloptool on linux.
When no SD card is present, the device boots to Maskrom mode as expected.

  • ld -> DevNo=1 Vid=0x2207,Pid=0x350a,LocationID=101 Maskrom
  • td -> Test Device OK.

If I insert the SD card after the device started into Maskrom mode and then run the Flash Info command, i get the info about the SD card size.

I also went ahead and found the rkbin project on the radxa git.
There looks like to be an check upgrade script which has a way newer loader version within the development branch but I could not yet to make it work.

Anyone any idea? Please?

Best Regards,
Christian

Please erase the eMMC, and flash the SD Card, then send me the boot log if can’t boot up.
