HDMI display output issue

Hi!

I have an issue with HDMI ports on board - no video output.

  • I tied two different monitors and one TV;
  • I tried both ports;
  • I tried multiple linages Debian 11 Bullseye, Ubuntu Server 20.04 and Armbian 22.11 Jammy.

However I can get video output with ICYBOX dock station (IB-DK4034-CPD)

What I’m doing wrong? Is there some magic to enable on board HDMI ports?

Are any of those monitors 1080p or lower resolution?

The board does support higher resolutions, but the default configuration of the Debian, Ubuntu, and Armbian images doesn’t actually allow for it (the high-speed HDMI clocks aren’t enabled in the device tree).

Both monitors are 1080p and TV is 4K

It seems many issues withe the Rock 5b are related to power supply. It might be worth a trying a different psu.

I don’t think that it is PSU issue, because it has the same issue with know good PSU.

First thing I’d try is installing the overlay mentioned here:

If nothing else, it should make your TV work with it, at least. The listed install procedure is for the official Debian or Ubuntu images, it’s slightly different on Armbian (but it’s in my post history).

Thank you for your replies. I managed to resolve.

Long story short, the acrylic case was interfering with HDMI cable and I was not able to push in last 1 - 2 millimeters.
