These images have 5Gbs of storage each and his links keeps failing when downloading on Chrome so I had to install Jdownloader to successfully get his files.
Thank you fot the new images!
Just a note, these can be downloaded with the wget using the “–no-check-certificate” switch. Although download is interupted couple of times, wget automaticaly resumes it.
Amazing tip! Thanks! I was using windows (thats why I mentioned jDownloader) but yeah.
I cannot boot the Rock 5a image, tried with both belenaEtcher and RPI imager, it always fails the same way
Begin: Waiting for root file system... Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
done
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
-Check rootdelay- (did the system wait long enough?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
Alert! UUID= XXXXXX does not exist. Dropping to a shell.
Am I doing something wrong when writing the image to the microSD?
UPDATE:
The same thing is happening with the official image from Radxa… I do have my Rock 5a booting from M.2, could it be related?
Ive only tried on the emmc and ive heard some microsds wont work on rock 5a Id say for you to get one of these
Update:
I havent used the M2. Only emmc. Maybe something is wrong with your board.
Let me try another microsd… I have a few here
Disconnect the SPI module and try again.
Same problem, tried with the SPI module out and back on, same issue…, fails to mount the SD card
Contact radxa or your retailer that doesnt seems right …
It appears almost all my SD cards are not supported by the Rock 5 Model A, only a Samsung 256G card works. I mean, at least it mounts into my M.2 ubuntu boot, burning the image right now and see if it boots, it would be great if it did, I rather not have to replace the board… again
It worked!!! The Samsung 256G SD card works fine
Exactly… I think my sandisk card doesnt work too… But since Im using emmc I never paid much attention to that and radxa I believe that already addresses that on their official images. Maybe an sudo update/upgrade will fix it on further sd cards.
Any idea how I can install this into the M.2? The steps that Radxa suggested, using dd to copy the image, creates a non-bootable image. It works fine for their official image but not for Afterburner (armbian).
And when I install using armbian-install
, it install fine to the M.2 but the boot partition always stays on the SD card, so it is useless since I still need the SD inserted into the rock 5a.
Also, on the armbian-install
there is no SPI option, the only option available is to boot from SD but still launch the image from the M.2, no idea why.
Any tips would be very welcome! Thanks!
I just went gangsta and got one external enclosure to just flash it directly via rpi imager…
But many say via MicroSD/Emmc and then by armbian-config setting install directly to the nvme works also.
Update: Just to be clear the spi emmc module that comes with the Rock 5A cant be used for storage ‘image flashing’. For that you will need another one.
https://pacstall.dev for the AuR lovers thanks to @igorp for the share… Another neat feature for us.
On this is, I tried connecting the official 8 inch display, enabled overlays rock-5a-radxa-display-8hd, display is working fine but the touch isn’t working, any one was able to get the touch to work?
No clue mate… that seems like you need radxa driver for the display to be installed maybe radxa has those instructions on their wiki page. Have you checked?
No details given for touch related issue,
And for this installation I installed it on 128gb microsd, it says no less than 700mb available
Resized root partition and now I have good enough space, only issue is with touch
