Graphics and sound driver problem

Hello,
I just started to test my Radxa X4 board (12gb ram with ssd mounted) under Windows 11 24h2 version.

When I try to install the sound driver, it gives 0x0000007 error. Windows does not recognize the sound chip. I see not available icon in the place of the speaker.

Second problem, system works ok with the basic display adapter from Microsoft. When I install it’s driver, right after the installation it shows black screen only with the cursor. I cannot see the file explorer.

What I tried:

  1. Install the graphic driver from Radxa’s site
  2. Install the driver from Windows Update
  3. Install the driver from Intel’s website
  4. Updated the bios

I can enter to Windows only after running Windows under safe mode, uninstall the graphics driver with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and restart Windows. And of course, Windows installs the new driver automatically and after a minute I get the black screen back.

How can I solve those problems? Is it a software issue or hardware?

Hello friend
You can use Ubuntu 24.04 to check the function. If it works properly, it is not a hardware problem.

Hi there,
I am also getting a 0x0000007 error when installing the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Setup (4.60) R2.82 on a new Radxa X4

Can anyone help us resolve this issue?

Hello, base system is windows 10/11?
Did you install other driver like Intel INF/GFX driver first?
New X4? you mean old one without problem?

Hi Ryan,
The Radxa X4 is new out of the box and I have followed the Driver Installation instructions here

The system is Windows 11 (64 bit)

It is possible I didn’t install intel_gfx correctly. Is there a way to check this or should I reset the device and re-install from the beginning?

The realtek audio driver is an option, if the audio function is normal, no need to install.
Anyway, maybe you can download latest version to try

What I have tried so far:

I reformatted the drive and downgraded Windows to 23H2. I tried to install all the driver options from above. The sound card driver could install but the graphics driver could not be installed.

After installing the graphics driver, all I see is a black screen with cursors, few times resetting the monitor, later a BSOD - video_tdr_failure. After few times Windows disables the graphics card and I can see the screen. On device manager there is an exclamation on the graphics card and says that
“Windows stopped the device because it has problem”.

If there is a solution under Windows (I am not planning to use Linux so far), if others can install the same driver without problem and I cannot, I started to think it is a hardware problem.

We have not received any other customers with the same problem.

So can we confirm it’s a hardware issue?

Update…

I tried with Linux Mint Live usb. After the console booting screen, the screen is entirely black. I cannot see the X windows.

It seems that it is most likely a hardware problem. You can contact after-sales and we will handle it for you.
