Future of iStoreOS

iStoreOS (at least on the E52C) is using an OpenWRT release that’s a bit behind (22.03.7). Same for the kernel.

Where can we know about future development? Is an update to the latest OpenWRT scheduled?

  1. Merge rk3582 device-tree into mainline linux (basically reuse the existing rk3588s works)
  2. Make PR to openwrt and backport the device-tree to the last LTS kernel (6.6 or 6.12)
  3. Merge it and firmware will be usable in snapshot builds

Awesome. Does that mean a new istoreOS release based on the new kernel? Any timeline for that ?

What I said above only applies to vanilla OpenWrt. iStoreOS is supposed to be a mix of Rockchip BSP and OpenWrt rootfs. So I’m not sure if Radxa will switch it to using the upstream kernel versions.
