Emmc 16gb shipped with Rock 5 model A defective

Hi,

I’m trying image the emmc but it is not recognised by computer or BalenaEtcher. (nothing happens and windows doesnt see any device/card)
Cardreader in laptop is fine and can read other microsd cards.

Can you supply a working one please?

Its not defective … its an SPI flash Module. You need to grab an emmc or a micro sd.
Any other emmc will work as emmc.

i ordered a seperate 16gb emmc and micro-sd adapter. So … (i have some experience with odroid and emmc, not a total noob, used it before)

Then u will be fine. The Rock 5A ‘emmc’ is not a storage one but an SPI Module. Thats why you cant flash it.

@DarkevilPT please read what people say… He said he also ordered the 16GB eMMC and probably refers to this.
The solution is: you need a usb2 micro-SD. Fast new ones don’t work with the Radxa emmc-to-microSD.

Also, unless you use a Radxa distro with a gimped speed, your file system will be corrupted. Look at some threads on the 5A forum about this @B_Meister
