Debian HDMI limited to 1080p

My monitor is 1440p (2560x1440), but resolutions listed only go up to 1920x1080.

I tried xrandr to generate 59.95fps modes for 1440p and 1440pR, but the display just blanks and returns to 1080p when I try to set those.

Trying to read edid says eeprom missing.

The display works fine on windows and ubuntu/x86-64 with the native resolution.

Should this work, how to get 1440p on HDMI-1 on Debian?

not being able to read EDID reminds me some bad memories, it could also be the unit is defective…

Same here, it’s quite annoying since I don’t even own a 1080p monitor. I only own a 1200p and 1440p.

mwah doesnt make that much diffrence .

and if you just post your xorg0.log would helps a lot more trying doing xrandr on wayland

and you could set it also from bootcmd video=1600x900@60 video=eDP-1:1360x700@60 video=DP-1:1600x900@60 …
