Cubie A5E with Display 8 HD failed

Hi!

I’m trying to setup a Cubie A5E with Display 8 HD and optional HDMI Output. I’m using the official images radxa-cubie-a5e_bullseye_kde_b1.output_512.img and radxa-cubie-a5e_bullseye_kde_r3.output_512.img. With HDMI they are working fine. To setup the Display 8 HD support I’m using rsetup and reboot the system.

After reboot the display stays black. At least the backlight was not working. Taking a look at Xorg.0.log I can see that the display is detected:

The HDMI display show a logon screen. The Display 8 HD touchscreen seems to work. The mouse cursor moves out of sight when I touch the display.

After logging on I can see the KDE plasma starting screen and then ist also stays black and I get the following output on the console:

We have indeed identified this issue and are currently working on a solution. We will get back to you as soon as we have an update.

Any news? Is maybe a test release available?

If you avoid using MIPI and HDMI at the same time, this issue should not occur. Have you tested using 8HD alone?

I tried to use the 8HD display alone without HDMI. Same result: no backlight, no image.

To check the display and cable I connected them with a RockPi 5A and it worked well.

Is there absolutely no backlight? Have you tried replacing it with other flex cables. Could you record an operation video for us to see? I have it running. My hardware was broken. With a second board it’s working. Thanks for your help!
