I’m trying to hook up this FireWire card to my Rock 2F using this FPC to PCIe connector.
I’m running Armbian and rebuilt the kernel with the FireWire modules, but the card never shows up in lspci . I powered the adapter through its barrel jack, but still no luck.
Out of curiosity, I added an extender cable between the adapter and the card — it has a little LED that lights up when there’s power. This time I actually heard a faint noise, the Rock 2F got really hot, and I smelled a bit of burnt plastic. Oddly enough, it was also the first time the LED turned on.
Now when I plug in the Rock 2F, it overheats right away, so I’ve ordered a replacement. I’m guessing the problem might be with the adapter, so I’ve also ordered this one to try instead.
Has anyone here managed to get a FireWire card working with a Rock 2F? I’d love to hear about your setup or any tips.
